About Jamie Keim-Pomo
Visual Artist & Designer
Jamie Keim is an abstract artist, educator, designer, and arts administrator. Through her intuitive painting practice, Jamie explores and observes her place in the physical world as well as the intangible one that exists beyond sight and touch, yet profoundly influences how people connect. Her compositions reflect nature's patterns. She often paints outside, in the elements, and on the ground, channeling a sense of stillness, softness, and meditation. Lake Erie, with its intense and sometimes calming moods, inspires her and often appears in her work.
Rooted in Stillness, Moved by Nature
“I am constantly exploring the concept of renewal as a thread in the tapestry of my life, often presenting itself in both grand and subtle ways. Each era of renewal can bring a unique rhythm, often familiar, yet sometimes fresh and new. In the quiet, I can feel a pulse. It’s this rhythm that allows me to enter a flow state and express myself through my work.”
In chaos, Jamie finds calm. In stillness, she uncovers movement. Motivated by memories and observations, her art is also her way of thanking Mother Nature. Jamie seldom uses traditional paint brushes, as the feeling of paint on her fingers and touching her canvas is essential to her process.
Bringing Color to the Community
Beyond her studio work, Jamie engages in public art initiatives, sharing her emotive aesthetic, inspiring others to create, and beautifying the Erie community. A standout accomplishment includes her instrumental role in completing a mural alongside Jacksonville-based artist Dustin Harewood for the Views Festival in 2023.
Where Vision Meets Curation
She currently serves as the Program Manager and Designer at the Erie Art Museum, where her primary role is to bring inspiring exhibitions to life. In addition to being a practicing studio artist, Jamie teaches at the Inner City Neighborhood Art House, where she shares her practice and abstract painting techniques with the young people of Erie.
Most notably, Jamie recently co-juried and curated the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh: Members Exhibition in the Erie Art Museum’s Customs House.
“Whether I’m curating, teaching, or painting, I’m always looking for ways to make art more accessible, meaningful, and impactful.”
Ideas & Connections
Prior to her time at the Erie Art Museum, Jamie also served as Creative Director of Lake Erie Arboretum, directing educational initiatives and helping launch some instant Erie favorites, such as the LEAF Open Market, a farmers' market in Frontier Park that started as an alternative grocery store during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. It gave people a safer way to shop and local vendors a space to sell their goods when many doors to traditional retail were closed. Jamie also helped launch the ReLeaf Project, which aims to plant 275,000 new trees across Erie County, one for each resident.
Jamie was featured in the Erie Reader’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2021, an award recognizing individuals actively engaged and committed to the Erie community.
Jamie is accepting commissions to create custom abstract paintings based on clients’ requests, color palettes, and themes. For inquiries (or to just say hello), please email Jamie at jamiekeim.studio@gmail.com.
